How Climbo complies with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. Questions? help@climbo.com
Climbo is an Italian company with registered office at Via Marsala 29H, 00185 Roma (RM), Italy. Climbo's AI features are designed and operated in line with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, the Artificial Intelligence Act ("AI Act"). This page explains how the AI Act applies to Climbo and what we do to meet its requirements, for agencies and for the local businesses they serve.
Summary
The AI Act is the European Union's regulation on artificial intelligence. It entered into force on 1 August 2024 and applies in stages. It classifies AI systems by risk level: prohibited practices, high-risk systems, systems with transparency obligations, and minimal-risk systems. Each level carries different obligations for providers and deployers.
Climbo uses AI to help agencies and local businesses manage their online reputation and marketing, for example:
These features are built on general-purpose AI models from established third-party providers, who carry their own obligations as model providers under the AI Act.
Climbo does not engage in any practice prohibited by Article 5 of the AI Act, such as manipulative or deceptive techniques, exploitation of vulnerabilities, social scoring, or biometric categorisation and identification.
Climbo's AI features do not fall within the high-risk areas listed in Annex III, such as employment, credit scoring, education, access to essential services, law enforcement or critical infrastructure. Content generation for marketing and reputation management falls under the transparency and minimal-risk categories.
Article 50 of the AI Act requires that people know when they are interacting with an AI system and that AI-generated content can be identified. Climbo:
AI in Climbo assists people; it does not replace their judgement. Agencies and businesses decide how AI features are used, can review and edit AI-generated content, and can turn AI features off. Responsibility for what is published under a business's name remains with that business and its agency.
In line with Article 4, the Climbo team receives training on how our AI features work, their limits and their risks, so that we can design, operate and support them responsibly.
AI features process personal data only as needed to provide them, under the GDPR and our Data Processing Agreement. Data is hosted in Germany and processed in the European Union. We do not use agency personal data to train general-purpose AI models unless expressly agreed in writing with the agency. See our GDPR page for details.
Agencies that use Climbo's AI features with their clients act as deployers. They remain responsible for using the features lawfully, for the content they choose to publish, and for informing their clients and end customers where the AI Act or other laws require it.
The AI Act applies in stages and further guidance from the European Commission and national authorities is expected. We monitor these developments and update our features, processes and this page as needed.
